Foodbank Fortnight

The Social Supermarket calls on Rainworth and Blidworth to Support Food Bank Fortnight!

📅 Save the date: 1 October to 14 October!  We are inviting the local community to get behind Food Bank Fortnight, a national campaign coordinated by the charity BanktheFood, to help tackle rising food poverty and support people facing hunger across the UK.

How to help:

  • Check your cupboard for unexpired, non-perishable items (even one tin makes a difference!)

  • Bring them to a collaborating School OR The Social Action Hub and place them in the collection area.

Together, as a community we can help fight food poverty and make sure local families get the help they need.

This is a brilliant chance for you to take part in real social action – showing how even

More Information

With demand for food parcels rising sharply—up 69% compared to five years ago—The Social Action Hub is using this two-week campaign to encourage individuals, schools, businesses and community groups in Rainworth & Blidworth to donate the items it most urgently needs. But we need tins and pantry goods all year round!

The Social Supermarket calls on Rainworth and Blidworth to join our BankTheFood network to help tackle rising food poverty and support people facing hunger across the UK.

Emma Spring, Founder of BanktheFood, said: "We know people want to help, but busy lives and uncertainty about what food banks actually need can be a barrier. Food Bank Fortnight is a chance for communities to rally together and support those facing food insecurity across the UK."

To support The Social Supermarket:

  1. Set up a harvest festival collections box/area at your school or organisation

  2. Encourage your customers or service users to donate whatever they can, even a single item from their cupboard (non-expired and non-perishable)

  3. Drop off donations at one of our collaborating schools or The Social Action Hub in Rainworth.
