A Landmark Moment: The Opening of Our Forest School Hub
One of our proudest achievements of 2024, was the creation and launch of our permanent Forest School Hub, made possible by an outpouring of generosity, skilled partnership and community spirit. Our forest school provides free and subsidised sessions to children who are unable to access this type of provision due to financial barriers.
This thoughtfully designed outdoor space, featuring natural seating, planting areas, and a dedicated teaching shelter, was officially opened in Autumn 2024. The launch brought together partners, funders and families to celebrate what is now a dedicated sanctuary for outdoor learning, environmental stewardship and wellbeing.
Forest School is a child-centred inspirational learning process, that offers opportunities for holistic growth. It is a programme that supports play, exploration and supported risk taking which helps to develops confidence and self-esteem through learner-inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting.

UPDATES:
On the second week of our April Playscheme, the Juniors enjoyed a day out at Forest School! We have had trip up into the woods and learnt how to tie some knots 🪢and also put the skills to the test to make some dens in the woods! We also collected some resources such as sticks and leaves to build bug hotels in the afternoon, then to end the day off we played some outdoor games using things such as the parachute.
We had a good turn out for Senior's April Playscheme, which was funded by HAF and provided free places and meals for hundreds of young people throughout the holidays. Forest School for Seniors included: Cooking campfire donuts, using tools to make wooden pendants, den building & making bug hotels. We took a trip up to our local woods and learned new knot tying skills to build the dens. We really enjoyed it!!
