Our
Story

Get to Know Us

The charity was formed in 1993, in response to the social and economic issues that arose after the closing of local pits. Originally we provided detached youth work to disillusioned young people in Rainworth and Blidworth. Concerned with supporting young people into positive outcomes, tackle anti social behaviour and a lack of opportunities in the area .

We have grown into a thriving community hub offering a diverse range of projects and services.

Our CEO, Claire Penny has been invited by the Lord Lieutenant  to attend the Kings Garden Party in May 2023  in recognition of her 30 year commitment to the charity and work within the education, skills and voluntary sectors; achieving a lasting impact for children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Team Foodshare

The Social Action Hub is the largest food poverty and food waste project in North Nottinghamshire, we launched Team Foodshare in 2017.

Surplus food is sourced from the Co-op, Fareshare, Neighbourly, Tesco, Asda, Greggs, Aldi, Lidl, Pets At Home, small local retailers and local individuals.

Our amazing team of over 20 volunteers collect and distribute that food to vulnerable and isolated individuals living in Rainworth, Blidworth and surrounding areas.

We also make sure that nothing is wasted by making sure that fresh bread, vegetables and fruit that is past its best goes to local farms, allotments and animal shelters.

We have provided over 3,000 meals in the form of emergency food parcels to local people this year.

Emergency Food Parcels are available upon request.  please call, chat or message us on Facebook
